Privacy notice
Last updated: 15 October 2026. Draft: review with a data protection adviser before launch.
Who we are
Business Backed is a trading name of [Company Ltd], company number [00000000], registered office [address]. We are the controller of the personal information described here. ICO registration number [number].
We are an introducer. We help UK limited companies and LLPs find business funding by passing their enquiry to one commercial finance broker or lender, named when you give consent. We do not lend money, make credit decisions or give financial advice.
Questions about your information: [privacy@businessbacked.co.uk] or write to us at the address above.
What we collect and where it comes from
From you, when you use our eligibility check or reply to our messages:
- Your name, role in the business, mobile number, email address and best time to call
- Your company name, and your answers about your business: turnover, unpaid invoices, payment terms, sector, existing finance, how much you need, what for, how soon, how long you have traded, whether there have been missed payments or County Court Judgments, and whether a director owns their home
- Messages you send us by text, and notes of any calls
- Your consent choices: the wording you saw, when you ticked the box, your IP address and the page you were on
Collected automatically when you visit: the advert or link that brought you to us, taken from the web address you arrived on (such as the campaign, ad set, ad and click reference), your IP address and browser type. With your permission in our cookie settings, we also collect pages viewed and how you used the form.
From other sources:
- Companies House: your company's name, number, status, incorporation date, registered address, nature of business, officers, registered charges, accounts filing status and insolvency history
- Phone and email checking services, which tell us whether a number or email address is live
- Advertising platforms, which tell us which advert you responded to (for example the campaign, ad and click reference)
- Our funding partners, who tell us what happened to your enquiry, for example whether they reached you, whether you applied, whether you were funded and roughly how much
We do not run credit searches, and we do not ask for bank statements, identity documents or dates of birth. The broker or lender you are introduced to may ask for these later, under their own privacy notice.
Why we use it and our lawful bases
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Check your company on Companies House and confirm your phone and email are live | Legitimate interests: making sure enquiries are genuine and from eligible businesses |
| Text, call or email you to confirm your details and arrange a call | Your consent, given in the consent box |
| Pass your details and answers to one of the partners listed below, named on your results screen | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Keep a record of your consent and what was sent | Legitimate interests: showing we acted on your consent and handling any disputes |
| Prevent fraud and duplicate or false enquiries | Legitimate interests |
| Record which advert brought you to us, and what happened to your enquiry once it reached a partner | Legitimate interests: knowing which adverts produce enquiries that are genuinely helped, managing our partners and billing them correctly |
| Send scrambled (hashed) contact details, the advert click reference and the outcome of your enquiry to Meta and Google, so they can measure our adverts and show them to businesses more likely to be helped | Legitimate interests. You can object at any time and we will stop |
| Measure how people use our website, using cookies and similar technology | Your consent, through our cookie settings |
| Email or text you now and then about business funding that could help | Legitimate interests. For emails and texts we rely on the "soft opt-in" because you enquired with us. You can opt out on the form and in every message |
| Meet legal and regulatory requirements | Legal obligation |
To withdraw consent or opt out of marketing, reply STOP to any text, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us. To object to us sharing information with advertising platforms, contact us and we will stop.
Who we share it with
Our funding partners. We pass your enquiry to one partner only, chosen because they fund businesses like yours. We name them on your results screen and in our text before they contact you. They will contact you about business funding and use your information under their own privacy notice. Our current partners are:
We are currently arranging our partner panel. Until a partner is listed here, we do not pass your details to anyone else. We will contact you ourselves about your enquiry.
We never sell your details to lists or pass them to several companies at once.
Service providers who work for us, under contract and only on our instructions: our CRM and messaging platform (HighLevel, known as GoHighLevel), Companies House for company checks, website hosting (Vercel), phone and email checking services if we use them, analytics providers (only where you allow cookies), and professional advisers.
Advertising platforms: Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. We send them the minimum needed to measure and improve our adverts: your email address and mobile number scrambled (hashed) before they leave us, the click reference from the advert you came from, the date, the stage your enquiry reached (enquired, contacted, application submitted, offer made or funded) and, if funded, the approximate amount. We never send your answers about your finances or your company's Companies House details. Meta and Google use this under their own terms and privacy notices.
Others where required: the police, regulators or courts, or a buyer of our business, who would take on this notice.
Texts, calls and our automated assistant
Straight after you submit, we text you to confirm your details and tell you who will call. Replies may be handled by an automated assistant. It only confirms details and helps arrange a call. It will tell you it is automated if you ask, it never recommends a product or lender, quotes rates or decides whether you will be approved, and it hands over to a person if you need one.
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. Our form routes enquiries automatically, for example explaining that we can't help if your business is not a limited company or LLP. We do not record calls.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use essential cookies so the site and form work. With your permission, we also use the Meta Pixel and Google tags in your browser to measure which adverts lead to genuine enquiries. Separately from cookies, we send enquiry and outcome information directly from our systems to Meta (the Conversions API) and Google (offline conversion uploads), as described under "Who we share it with". Your answers about your finances are never sent to advertising platforms. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the cookie banner back.
How long we keep it
- Enquiry details, consent record and what we sent to a partner: 6 years, so we can show what you agreed to if questioned
- Text conversations: 2 years
- Marketing: we may contact you for up to 2 years after your enquiry unless you opt out. After you opt out we keep a suppression record so we don't contact you again
- Advert and outcome records: 6 years, with the enquiry

Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another organisation.
